Nina Winrow - Pointers In Need

Pointer and cycling lover, Nina Winrow is going to peddle long distance to raise funds for Pointers In Need.

You can support Nina’s quest by sponsoring her.

Last year Nina cycled the 100mile ride London prudential to raise money for the Air Ambulance. This year Nina is completing  two cycle challenges! The Yorkshire wolds cycle challenge (146miles) and 2 weeks later the prudential ride London again (100miles) to raise money for Pointers in Need. So please support Nina…even just £1 can make a difference when it all adds up.

The Wolds cycle challenge is July 15th/16th cycling (146 miles over 2 days) and the Prudential Ride London is July 30th (100 miles in 1 day). They’re both bigger events with more than 200 cyclists on the Wolds challenge and the Prudential is massive with more than 26000 cyclists taking part on closed roads.

The pain/fatigue my legs and body will feel will be nothing compared to the suffering in the lives of some of the Pointers we help – if by raising money, I can alleviate that pain and make a difference to the life of just one Pointer……then I will be happy.” Commented Nina Winrow.

Nina went on to explain “I have been cycling with my roadbike for 4 years now ( I took up cycling when I lived in Switzerland to improve my fitness and got hooked). I had one year away from it in 2015 when I had an operation on my back but used it to help get me fit again as soon as I could! I did the Prudential ride London last year but have also cycled in the mountains in France, Switzerland, Italy and Scotland. I regularly cycle round the Chilterns and Yorkshire Wolds now.

My lovely orange and white Pointer boy is called Fargo. He is from Wendy Gordon (as are all the best Pointers…..but I am biased!) and is the second of Wendy’s wonderful Pointers I have owned. My previous pointer from Wendy (Jaffa) went climbing and canoeing with me as well as covering many a walk in the mountains. I have had Pointers for several years now and always rehomed from their breeders (although no rescues yet!). They’re amazing, loyal, clever and gentle dogs and I don’t think I could have another breed now.Explained Nina.

I met Nina a few years ago here in North Wales when she came for a short break with her lovely boy Fargo, Brother to my Jackpot. Nina is a very energetic, lively, fit, gentle and kind  lady who loves our beautiful breed. She has, in the past, done many cycle rides for charity and I was absolutely thrilled to hear that this year she was doing her cycle ride for Pointers In Need.” Said Claire Stokes, PIN Treasurer and Coordinator.

Thank you Nina and we wish you well on your cycle ride and hope you raise many pennies for Pointers In Need.

You can help Nina by sponsoring her – every penny raise will go towards helping Pointers learn to love life again.

There are so many Pointers that need homes and many more still that are waiting in the wings to come onto our books.
